Just a moment before, Arévalo had denounced the budget cuts in front of her. “I want to raise my voice to reject the letter 086-2024-F-5003 of July 12, by which the Public Budget Directorate arbitrarily cuts our budget for 2025 by more than S/3.5 billion, in line with Law 28821, the Law of Coordination of the Judicial Branch and the Executive Branch for the Programming of the Formulation of the Institutional Budget of the Judicial Branch,” he said.
He added: “Perhaps you, Madam President, do not know it, perhaps the Minister of Economy does not know it, but a mid-level official tells us in a branch of the State: ‘I will take away S/3.5 billion and, regarding the balance, we will discuss the application of the Law of Coordination of the Judicial and Executive Branches on budget programming.’”
Arévalo Vela argued that this cut should be discussed with the head of the Ministerial Cabinet, Gustavo Adrianzenand with the Minister of Economy and Finance himself, Jose Aristahowever, these processes would have been skipped.
