Public Works will close traffic on overpasses and bridges for maintenance

SANTO DOMINGO.– EThe Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) will close various structures in Greater Santo Domingo to vehicular traffic from Monday, August 5 until Saturday, August 10, in order to carry out repair work.

Closing hours will be from 10:00 p.m. until the end of the work. In some cases, the closures will be total, and in others, partial.

The work to be carried out includes solid waste collection, sweeping and collecting aggregates, weed control, general cleaning of the surroundings and drainage, painting of elements, electrical work, among others.

From Monday to Friday, the Las Américas tunnel, between Venezuela and Sabana Larga avenues, and the Juan Pablo Duarte bridge will be closed.

While the tunnel on Núñez de Cáceres Avenue will be closed on Monday and Tuesday.

Only on Monday will it be done at the overpasses of Mirador Sur Avenue with Italia, Núñez de Cáceres with Cayetano Germosén, Independencia, and George Washington, at the overpasses of the Duarte highway with Los Beisbolistas and Monumental avenues, Jacobo Majluta with La Isabela highway, and the Jacobo Majluta bridge.

From Tuesday to Thursday, maintenance will be carried out on the overpass between Sánchez Highway and Independencia Avenue (Kilometer 12).

On Tuesday and Saturday, the work will be carried out at the overpasses of the Duarte Highway with Prolongación 27 de Febrero, Avenida República de Colombia, and the dry bridge at Kilometer 14.

On Tuesday, the elevated highways of Luperón Avenue and 30 de Mayo Highway, Duarte Highway and Duarte Street (entrance to Los Alcarrizos), Charles de Gaulle and San Isidro Highway, and Mella Highway will also be closed.

On Wednesday, the overpasses on Ortega y Gasset Avenue and 27 de Febrero Avenue, Máximo Gómez Avenue and Los Reyes Católicos Avenue, Nicolás de Ovando Avenue, and the Ozama and Gregorio Luperón bridges will be completely closed.

On Thursday, the elevated highways of Expreso Quinto Centenario with Duarte Avenue, San Martín, and Hermanos Pinzón Street; John F. Kennedy Avenue with Ortega y Gasset; the Jacobo Majluta bridge (close to the entrance to Guaricanos) and the Konrad Adenauer Avenue overpass with Hermanas Mirabal will be closed.

On Friday, the bridges on the 6 de Noviembre highway, the Sánchez highway, Ramón Matías Mella, and Francisco del Rosario Sánchez highways will be closed, the overpass on Winston Churchill Avenue with John F. Kennedy in both directions, and the overpasses on the 27 de Febrero Extension with the 6 de Noviembre highway and Padre Castellanos Avenue with Francisco del Rosario Sánchez.

Also, to the control centers of the tunnels on Las Américas Avenue and Ortega y Gasset (UASD).

On Saturday the 10th, the overpasses between John F. Kennedy Expressway and Luperón Avenue (Kilometer 9) and San Vicente de Paul Avenue and Venezuela will be closed.
