Research by Procon-SP in partnership with the Inter-Union Department of Statistics and Socioeconomic Studies (Dieese), released this Monday (5), shows that the prices of meals in self-service restaurants in São Paulo rose 2.22% from February to June, with the kilo rising from R$80.44 to R$82.22.
Compared to June last year, the increase was 3.99% and, since the beginning of the historical series of the survey, in 2020, the price of eating out has increased by 43.5%. The price per kilo was R$57.30.
According to Procon, in the accumulated period from 2020 until June, the variation in prices was above the National Consumer Price Index (INPC), which was 31.03%.
Compared to February 2023, when the comparison of average prices of meals using the ready-made meal system (PF, or dish of the day) began, up until June of this year, the increase was 12.31%. The average price was R$27.33 and is now R$30.70, twice the accumulated variation of the INPC, which was 6% in the period.

Procon warns that restaurants cannot impose tip payments, charge for waste and also not inform the price only as the equivalent of 100 grams.
