Boca Juniors tied 1-1 at home on Sunday against Central Barracks in the ninth round of the Argentine Professional Football League. In the match played at the La Bombonera stadium in front of 55,000 fans, Barracas surprised Boca Juniors in the seventh minute with a cross shot by Maximiliano Zalazar that beat goalkeeper Sergio Romero.
The popular Argentine team equalized in the 37th minute through Milton Giménez, who deflected a low cross from Lautaro Blanco from the right side with his backheel. “The draw earns us a point, but we lose two more than we earn,” said Boca Juniors coach Diego Martínez. With the draw, Boca is in eleventh place in the league table with 13 points, six behind leader Huracán.
In other Sunday matches, Lanús beat Tigre 3-2 at home, Atlético Tucumán beat Independiente Rivadavia 2-1 at home, while Sarmiento de Junín and Belgrano de Córdoba tied 0-0. On Saturday, leader Huracán tied 0-0 at home against Racing Club, the same score that ended the derby between Independiente de Avellaneda and San Lorenzo de Almagro.
