Education hands over new school facilities in Valverde

Valverde.- The Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (Minerd) inaugurated this Sunday the Professor Simón Rafael Moronta Quiñones High School, with capacity for 245 students from the Educational District 09-05 of Laguna Salada.

The new school had an investment of RD$56,796,666.48 and has 7 standard classrooms, administrative offices, a science laboratory, an infirmary, a specific education classroom, a teachers’ lounge, a library, a children’s play area, a civic plaza and a court with stands, among other facilities.

Heading the inauguration ceremony, Vice President of the Republic Raquel Peña explained that every effort, every reform and every investment that the Government makes is aimed at providing students with the best opportunities to continue developing their potential.

He said that the educational model promoted by President Luis Abinader has among its goals not only to increase the number of classrooms, but also to continue guaranteeing children and youth a quality education.

Among the initiatives being implemented to strengthen education, Peña mentioned the Open Book Project, the implementation of the TRAE School Transportation System and the ongoing training of teachers.

He also mentioned some of the objectives that the Head of State has in the educational field. “An education that includes the essential knowledge of contemporary knowledge, values ​​for life, but, above all, that deep love for the Homeland, are some of the objectives that President Abinader has for education,” he said.

During the activity, the Vice Minister of Supervision, Evaluation and Quality Control, Oscar Amargós explained that with the construction of this new high school, students will begin the school year with enthusiasm and will have all the materials, as well as the textbooks they need to receive new knowledge.

“MINARD is committed to continuing to change the country from the classrooms,” said Vice Minister Amargós, adding that everything is ready so that in the new school year no child will be left without receiving the bread of education.

Student Patricia Pineda thanked Vice President Raquel Peña and Minister of Education Ángel Hernández for the construction of the high school, which will provide a safe and quality environment for learning.

The event was also attended by students, teachers, support staff, school police, parents and guardians, representatives of the education sector, senators and deputies, among other authorities.
