The Ministry of the Interior and Justice reported that it seized a shipment of weapons of war that would be used to generate violent actions against the country. The announcement was made two days after President Nicolás Maduro denounced that the opposition was preparing an alleged attack in Bello Monte.

On August 1, the Minister of the Interior and Justice, Remigio Ceballos, reported that a gang that was allegedly made up of members of the politically motivated organization Vente Venezuela dedicated to trafficking and assembling weapons in order to destabilize the country had been dismantled.
“These plans have been directed from abroad, from the United States, Colombia, Chile and Ecuador (…). We have captured, dismantled and neutralized a criminal organization formed as a criminal commando from the Vente Venezuela party, formed as a terrorist gang of international trafficking, assembly and sale of weapons of war to use them in destabilization and murder,” said the government official.
At that time, he said that “two people were arrested in Quinta Crespo, a Venezuelan soldier active in the US and a logistics operator.” He specified that they were Leonardo Atilio Micaleti Hernández and Argenis José Mavares Alcalá, who had brought parts and pieces of war weapons from the United States to generate destabilization actions.
