In February 2019, Ortiz Pinchetti was appointed by the Attorney General of the Republic, Alejandro Gertz Manero, to head the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Electoral Crimes.
Pinchetti was born on May 13, 1937.
He held a Master’s degree in Economic Law from the Universidad Iberoamericana, practiced law for more than 40 years and was a professor at the Universidad Iberoamericana for more than 30 years.
Ortiz held various positions in the Federal Public Administration.
He was the author of the books “The Democracy to Come” and “Private Reflections and Public Testimonies”; columnist and essayist.
He was a citizen advisor to the General Council of the Federal Electoral Institute in 1994 and organized the Chapultepec Seminar, a direct antecedent of the electoral reform of 1996.
He also served as Secretary of Government of the Federal District (2000-2003).
He served as Federal Deputy of the LIX Legislature of the Congress of the Union (2003-2006).
