María de Lima, Ricardo Planchón and Napoleón Gardiol had held meetings with a view to forming an agreement to run together in the national elections in October against Guillermo Rodríguez, Carlos Moreira’s candidate for the municipal elections. It will not happen. Napoleón Gardiol, railway advisor to the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, has now announced that he will join Guillermo Rodríguez’s ranks as first substitute for mayor.
This Friday, the 2nd, EL ECO confirmed with Gardiol himself that he will make an agreement with Guillermo Rodríguez for the municipal elections in May 2025, and will go as a substitute for mayor. And this Friday, the 2nd, he was going to hold conversations with deputy Mario Colman for the national elections in October, in search of a place on the list for parliament, but what is clear is that he is joining the nationalist lists of Moreirism.
“My point was not against Moreirism but in favor of something different for the department, and it seems to me that we will have more possibilities to carry it out with Guillermo (Rodríguez), because we already worked together for ten months when I was in the mayor’s office and he was general secretary. It seems to me that we can have a better dialogue with Guillermo than with María (De Lima)” And he clarified: “not because they have a problem with María, it is simply that: “working according to what we project.”
He said that he delayed making a decision because he wanted it to be “by consensus with the lists that supported me. On Monday we will meet with Guillermo and Moreira and we will see,” he responded to EL ECO when asked when they would launch the agreement.
