Episcopal Conference calls for a National Day of Prayer for Venezuela

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Dominican Episcopal Conference (CED) called for a National Day of Prayer for peace, human rights and solidarity with the people of Venezuela this Sunday, August 4.

In a press release, the CED He points out that it is “our desire that justice and well-being prevail for all Venezuelans.”

The bishops also expressed their desire to express their “deep solidarity in this difficult situation that this sister nation is going through. Considering the historic relationship that links us, especially with a people that welcomed so many Dominicans, including our most distinguished hero, Juan Pablo Duarte, we want to offer our sincere support and offer wishes for peace and harmony in these crucial moments.”

He also said that “we make a fervent call for peace, reconciliation and, above all, dialogue as an essential way to achieve mutual understanding and the strengthening of democracy in Venezuela.”

They explain that they are calling for the “bonds of communion that unite us with the Church and the Venezuelan people.”
