Páez: They threw Molotov cocktails at us to burn us alive in Psuv Carora

An important group of militants of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) in the state of Lara (Barquisimeto) lived moments of terror due to the direct attack on their lives when they were at the headquarters of the red party, in the aforementioned city, capital of the Pedro León Torres municipality.

The events occurred last Tuesday, July 30, after noon at the headquarters of the PSUV Carora, located in the Trinidad Samuel parish, and where the community radio Venceremos 104.9 FM also operated.

Richard Páez recounted part of the attack he experienced that afternoon with his colleagues, just two days after the National Electoral Council (CNE) announced the results of the 2024 Presidential elections, which declared President Nicolás Maduro Moros the winner.

“They started throwing Molotov cocktails to burn alive those of us who were inside the headquarters of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) in the city of Carora,” said Páez.

He added that for a while they were able to put out the flames, “but there was a moment when the fire overtook us and that was when we had to evacuate and we did it in three groups, we did it when we heard shots (gunshots), we also dispersed and the fascists shouted: “We have to kill them”, “We have to get them”, “We have to burn them alive.”

He said that several of his companions were able to take refuge by jumping into neighboring houses and another group was left “adrift” since, Páez pointed out, “unfortunately, they jumped into the property of a right-wing militant, a professor, who betrayed us,” he added.

He also explained that those who remained in the right-wing militant’s yard “are currently experiencing a delicate health situation since they were savagely beaten, and comrade Dennys Pereira was thrown off the terrace and doused with gasoline,” he indicated.

He denounced that “the role of the Mayor’s Office was to encourage, call the motorcyclists and pay the young people” who also carried out the burning of twenty-two motorcycles, which were reduced to ashes and belonged to several supporters of the revolutionary forces who were dedicated to working as motorcycle taxi drivers.

Páez calls for justice in the face of such fascist acts, and at the same time demands security for the families, given that hours after what happened, some people linked to right-wing groups in Carora published on their WhatsApp status some photographs of local Chavista leaders, including Edgar Carrasco, head of the PSUV in Carora, stating: “They were left alive”; and, they humiliated an elderly person by stripping him completely of his clothes.
