The Autonomous Committee of the Fiscal Rule (Carf) accepted the resignation letter of the technical director and secretary, Andrés Velasco Martínez. After two and a half years in office, the director will carry out his duties until August 12.

Although the reasons behind Velasco’s departure from the Technical Directorate of Carf are not known, the official thanked the institution and its members for the support provided during his time in office.
“I am retiring from the Technical Directorate of CARF after two and a half years in which, thanks to the work of many, we were able to get the recently created CARF up and running and position itself as a relevant institution in the national fiscal and macroeconomic discussion. I would like to express my gratitude to the expert members for having offered me the opportunity to work for the sustainability of public finances from CARF, and for the support we always receive from the Technical Directorate to carry out the tasks assigned to us by law, regulations and the Committee.”the manager said.
Through a statement, The entity recognized Velasco’s contribution to the consolidation of the Committee and indicated that his resignation will be accepted on the terms he requests. He also highlighted his work for the construction of a “fluid and mutually respectful dialogue with the technicians of the Ministry of Finance, and with the congressmen who requested the CARF’s contribution to the knowledge of the fiscal issues of interest to them.”

“This is an institution that must continue its process of strengthening and we appreciate its contribution and technical leadership to the construction of its founding pillars.”explained the president of Carf, Astrid Martínez Ortiz, in the letter of acceptance of the resignation.
Along the same lines, the expert members of the Committee and its technical team praised and thanked Velasco’s leadership, commitment and contribution to strengthening the institutionality of the Carf and his efforts to safeguard the country’s public finances.
