SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, Mexico.- A multi-family building is collapsed the night of this Thursday, August 1st in Old Havana, as confirmed CubaNet.
The building, located at Villegas 256, between Obrapía and Lamparilla streets, collapsed around 8:10 pm. One woman was injured and several people were trapped inside, including children and a pregnant woman.
Firefighters and rescuers extracted the people slowly because they did not have the means to do so. The building’s staircase collapsed and they were unable to get out.
The accident occurred after the house of a man named Nelson collapsed. Firefighters spent about an hour trying to get the pregnant woman who was inside out.
After a long wait, they managed to rescue two minors and 11 other people.
People have not been evacuated from nearby buildings, which are structurally in poor condition.
He Municipal Administration Council From Old Havana reported that there were no deaths due to the collapse and assured that the authorities of the territory and the MININT went to the place.
However, authorities have not clarified how many people have been injured so far.
In March, rescue and salvage teams helped three people who were trapped inside a multi-family building in Old Havana, after two of its floors collapsed.
The accident occurred in the San Isidro neighborhood, in Old Havana.
Apparently, a light roof collapsed and caused the collapse of two floors in a multi-family building located at 110 San Isidro Street, between Habana and Damas.
The three people rescued had been cut off from contact after the collapse. Fortunately, no deaths or injuries have been reported.
