Juan Ariel Jiménez advises the Azerbaijani government on how to diversify its economy

Economist and Harvard professor Juan Ariel Jimenez is advising the Azerbaijani government on economic development and diversification.

The professor, who is part of the Harvard Kennedy School’s Growth Lab team, toured agroparks and industrial companies in the company of Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy, Mikayil Jabbarov, and businessmen from the area.

He said that during his visit to the country he was able to see the full potential Azerbaijan has to diversify its economy and achieve economic well-being for its citizens.

Jimenez also noted that there are many lessons to be learned from Azerbaijan, as several public policies implemented in the country could be considered good practices to be emulated in other countries.

Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov, in his X account, highlighted the meeting held with Professor Jimenez and non-oil businessmen from the Absheron region: “Our discussions focused on the advancement of the non-oil sector, improving production and expanding export opportunities.”
