Banorte reports progress in financial inclusion of refugees in Mexico

Banorte reports progress in financial inclusion of refugees in Mexico

According to the data presented by the director of the financial institution, Mexico City leads the way in the opening of accounts for refugees, with 20%, followed by Nuevo Leon, with 19%; Chiapas, with 11% and Quintana Roo, with 10%.

And below are Jalisco (8%), Baja California (6%), Querétaro (4%), Aguascalientes (3%), Puebla (3%) and Tabasco (3%).

Cano said that the idea is to continue adding more refugees to financial inclusion; in fact, companies continue to approach Banorte to open these payroll accounts.

He also stressed that with this account, refugees can eventually access other banking services thanks to the credit history they will generate.

What is the account opening process for refugees?

The process is through Banorte’s Digital Link Account, which can be done via the bank’s website or from its mobile application.

It is required to provide CURP or general data, address and contact information (email and cell phone).

And activate Banorte Móvil and a debit card, which, according to Cano, is very easy to obtain; opening the account takes no more than five minutes, he points out.

In Mexico, the Enlace Digital Account is what is known as a limited balance account, in which you can deposit up to 3,000 UDIs, about 24,000 pesos a month, which perfectly covers more than 99% of needs because salaries are within that range, said Cano.
