Tropical Storm Carlotta: Where will it bring rain?

Tropical Storm Carlotta was located 480 kilometers (km) southeast of Playa Pérula, Jalisco, and 500 km southwest of Manzanillo, Colima, with maximum sustained winds of 75 km per hour (km/h), gusts of 95 km/h and moving northwest at 19 km/h.

Storm Carlotta will cause intense rainfall (75 to 150 mm) in Colima, Jalisco and Michoacán, while there will be very heavy rainfall (50 to 75 mm) in Nayarit. In addition, the SMN predicts winds with gusts of 40 to 60 km/h, waves of 1 to 2 meters (m) high, and possible waterspouts on the coasts of Colima, Jalisco and Michoacán.

The rains could be accompanied by electrical discharges and hail.

Carlotta’s career and evolution 2024

According to the weather forecast, it will remain a tropical storm on Thursday, August 1, heading southwest of Cabo Corrientes, Jalisco. On Friday, August 2, it will become a Category 1 hurricane, 705 km southwest of Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, and 770 km south-southeast of Santa Fe, Baja California Sur.

Carlotta will reach Category 2 hurricane strength on Saturday, August 3, near the southwest of Cabo San Lázaro, BCS, where it will again descend to Category 1 hurricane strength by Monday, August 5.
