Santo Domingo, July 31, 2024 – The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, appointed Jesús Vásquez as Consul General of the Dominican Republic in New York, United States of America.
According to decree 420-24, the designation will take effect on August 16, 2024.
According to the decree, Vásquez was chosen because his experience in managing security and public order will be invaluable in his new role, where he is expected to continue strengthening relations between the Dominican Republic and the Dominican community in New York.
Who is Jesus Vasquez?
Chu Vásquez, former Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Police. This is the body responsible for developing public policies related to Citizen Security, within a framework of respect for citizens’ rights, dialogue, agreement, and citizen participation and inclusion.
Another of its major responsibilities is to manage the national system of firearms, ammunition and related items in the hands of the civilian population, to prevent misuse, diversion and trafficking.
The MIP formulates immigration policies with the correct application of immigration law and the regularization of Dominicans born abroad.
