The congresswoman had resigned from this parliamentary group in May of this year, but her resignation was not accepted because a disciplinary procedure was opened against her.
The Peru Libre’s bench expelled congresswoman Margot Palacios for “violating political principles and committing disloyal acts,” the parliamentary group reported on its official X account.
Previously, in May, the legislator and spokesperson for this parliamentary group resigned from the group. According to what she told the press, her resignation was due to her disagreement with a series of bills that the Congress of the Republic was promoting and that threatened the institutionality of several organizations.

“In the last plenary sessions, several bills were debated that threatened the institutionality of the National Justice Board, the National Elections JuryReniec, among others, which I do not agree with because it is practically taking institutions by storm to subdue them and put officials in place tailored to what they are looking for,” he commented to RPP.
He then added: “A package of legislative projects came up that I was no longer in favour of, which is why I had very serious disagreements within the party and that is why I decided to resign because I could no longer do so.”
However, his resignation was not accepted because disciplinary proceedings were initiated against him.
“On May 31, I resigned, not only as a member of the bench, but also as spokesperson for the bench and as a member of the political party. Free PeruDespite this, I was expelled from the political party and the bench. They open a disciplinary process against me, not accepting my resignation as a member,” he told the aforementioned media.
“So I am being limited, violating my right as a congressman. I cannot intervene. I have to ask other parties for help so that I can intervene in the plenary session,” he added.
