Brazilians Ana Sátila and Pedro Gonçalves, known as Pepê, secured their place in the semi-finals of the canoe slalom tournament at the Paris Olympic Games after performing well in the qualifying rounds of their respective categories on Tuesday (30) at the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium.
In the K1 (kayak) competition, Pepê finished in eighth place overall after setting a time of 86s64 on the first of two runs, and an even better time on the second, but ended up receiving a penalty. “Doing a first run like that, clean [sem penalidades]it’s a huge challenge, but we’ve been working hard for years to achieve this. And in the second round I was even faster, but I ended up making two touches. But our goal was achieved, to make it to the semis in good shape”, said the Brazilian.
Ana Sátila secured seventh place in C1 (canoe). Now the Minas Gerais native will return to action next Wednesday (31). Pepê will decide his future in the competition on Thursday (1).
