Mexico has not obtained further information on the legal situation of Ovidio Guzmán López, son of Joaquín Guzmán Loera, El Chapo, since so far it is only known that he was transferred from the prison where he was held since he was extradited and that his precautionary measure was modified, reported the Secretary of Public Security and Citizen Protection, Rosa Icela Rodríguez.
The official said that Mexico was officially notified on July 23 that Guzmán López had left the prison where he was being held, but that he remains in the hands of the U.S. authorities. However, when asked specifically if he had become a protected witness, he responded in the same terms as last week: We cannot say that because we do not have the information. That is how they sent it to us.
.
–Did you ask the U.S. authorities to know what kind of status Ovidio Guzmán has?
–Yes, and they only told us that he was in the hands of the authorities, although they moved him from the prison where he had originally been.
