US and Mexico agree on plan to protect labor rights at Volkswagen

The administration of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador will ensure that the company pays entirely the back wages and benefits to some workers and better protect workers’ rights to freedom of association and collective bargaining.

The U.S. Trade Representative’s office had asked Mexico in late May to review whether workers at the Volkswagen VOWG_p.DE plant in the central state of Puebla were being denied freedom of association and collective bargaining rights.
