Panamanian Tyler Christianson came in first place in heat 1 of the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:15.62 in a group that had 3 swimmers. Tyler took the lead from the start and never lost it to come in first in this elimination group.
However, in this type of test the 16 fastest times are taken into account regardless of the heats they participated in and Christianson finished in the general table in position 22 out of 25 competitors and did not manage to qualify for the semi-finals.
