Prosecutor: There are no protests in the country, there are violent outbreaks to create chaos

The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, said on Tuesday that there are no protests in Venezuela, but rather hotbeds of violence generated by armed criminals, to attack and create chaos, which they are not achieving.

This was stated when giving an overview of the actions taken against the acts of violence that took place in the country on Monday, July 29.

In this regard, he said that so far 749 people have been arrested and will be charged, depending on each case, with the crimes of public incitement, obstruction of public roads, incitement to hatred, resistance to authority and terrorism, and will be sentenced to imprisonment.

“Unlike what happened in previous days of violence, this time there will be no impunity,” said the prosecutor, commenting that as a result of the events that took place on Monday, a GNB member was killed in Aragua and 48 officials (including military and police) were injured.

He also said that, as in the past, the organisers of these violent actions again used many minors and people under the influence of drugs.
