President Luis Abinader He said yesterday that he will abide by the decision of the president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduroto withdraw its diplomatic staff in Dominican Republic and the withdrawal of the delegation of the Dominican embassy in that nation, where presidential elections were held on Sunday.
“We do not have an ambassador in Venezuela, we abide by that decision and we will continue to see what he will do. What we will never do is give up our principles of fighting for democracy,” said the president, however, the foreign minister Roberto Alvarezsaid that President Maduro’s statement did not specify whether it was only the representatives who had to leave or all the staff.

He also specified that until yesterday no request for help from Dominicans to leave Venezuela had been received due to the electoral crisis that has occurred after the proclamation of Nicolás Maduro’s victory for re-election last Sunday. He said that “all necessary steps will be taken.”
There are no plans for any action regarding trade or the possible suspension of flights, so they will have to wait and see how the situation develops in that country before taking any measures.
He stated that he will not respond to President Maduro’s accusations that the Dominican Republic was in cahoots with other countries in the region in search of a “coup” against him.
He reaffirmed his position that an international verification of the voting records of the electoral process of last Sunday in Venezuela is “essential” and pointed out that the electoral rules cannot be applied at discretion or convenience.
He clarified that he has not yet spoken with the United States about the situation in Venezuela.
President Abinader addressed the issue in the National Palace while answering questions at the LA Semanal meeting, whose theme was “Towards Zero Hunger.” He presented the country’s progress in agricultural production through the Ministry of Agriculture and the supply of food to the vulnerable population through the Comedores Económicos and Inespre.
In response to questions, he said that WhatsApp decrees will continue in the coming days with changes in his cabinet starting on August 16.
In another order, the president said that there is no need to acquire a presidential plane to cover his trips.
Regarding the Kenyan security mission in Haiti, he said that he has not had direct communication with the Haitian Prime Minister on this issue, but he assured that the Dominican security agencies are aware of everything that happens in this regard.
