The teams representing the province of Huancayo started off by winning this first date of the Junín Departmental Stage of the 2024 Peru Cup. Atlético Wanka did so on their visit to the city of Pampas, and Deportivo Sucre won at home.

Both matches were scheduled for the same time. At the Mariscal Castilla stadium in El Tambo, Deportivo Sucre (Huancayo) played at home against Social Yauli (Yauli). The goal came after 4 minutes of play through Osores’ header, however, this wide dominance that the home team had was not enough to convert the other goal opportunities that were generated.
The second half was a more discreet game. The home team scored their second goal in the last play of the match.

At the Pampas Municipal Stadium, CD Ferretería Meza (Tayacaja) received Atlético Wanka (Huancayo). The Pampinos tried to play and dominate the match but were counterattacked and ended with a score of 0 – 3 in favor of the visitors.
“The win is important, but we didn’t play this game the way we would have liked. We were imprecise,” said Sucre striker Jordan Osores.
