Santo Domingo – Merchants reacted opposed to the ordinance of the City Hall of the National District that establishes the collection of a special tax to businesses for the use of ramps and sidewalks that give access to establishments.
The Special Contribution Ordinance provides that commercial establishments located on main avenues pay 1,260 pesos for each square meter used.
Businesses in primary and secondary streets 630 pesos.
In this sense, the resources generated by the new tax for the use of access ramps will be used to improve public spaces. As construction of sidewalks, containers, scuppers, registers and filters, informed the Mayor’s Office of the National District.
The ordinance recently approved by the Council of Regidores, maintains exempt private homes, schools and churches. Also offices of lawyers, engineers and other entities of liberal professions.
The Directorates of Collection and Urban Planning of the Capital City Hall will be responsible for implementing the approved ordinance.
