Opposition leaders speak out after verification of votes: We won in all sectors

The opposition leader and rival of Maduro in the elections this Sunday, July 28, thanked the international community for its support for Venezuela and highlighted the categorical victory they had yesterday.

“We won in places where the democratic forces of this country had never won in the last 25 years. We want respect for each and every Venezuelan who went out to vote,” he said.

González, who referred to the protests unleashed in the country in rejection of the election results, called for preserving peace, despite the anger of the people. “I understand your indignation, but our response is calm and firm, betting on peace.”

He argued that the premature announcement of results by the regime, without auditing them, is not responsible. “Official announcements do not serve to legitimize the system. Truth is the path to peace.”

The leaders called on all Venezuelans to come together with their families on Tuesday to meet in citizen assemblies between 11 and 12 a.m., and then peacefully return to their homes.
