Given the lack of qualified candidates for the Plurinational Constitutional Court (TCP) for the department of Santa Cruz, the former prosecutor and expert in Constitutional Law, William Herrera Añez, who is qualified as a candidate for the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), requested to be a candidate for the TCP and thus fill a vacancy.
Herrera made that demand through a Letter to the Vice President and President of the Legislative Assembly Plurinational Party (ALP), David Choquehuanca, after learning that the Joint Constitutional Commission, in its final report, observed a lack of leadership in five departments.
“I draw your attention and, through you, the representatives of the Plurinational Legislative Assembly to request that, given the lack of candidates from the department of Santa Cruz for the formation of the Plurinational Constitutional Court, I consider and offer my candidacy to occupy that place and thus an unwanted problem of lack of candidates for that Court would also be resolved,” Herrera requested in his letter.

“I meet the specific requirements, I have the academic profile and intellectual production in constitutional matters, Therefore, I ask to be taken into account for preselection for the Plurinational Constitutional Court,” added Herrera.

The president of the Joint Constitutional Commission, Senator Miguel Rejas of the MAS, observed that in the departments of Cochabamba, Santa Cruz, Oruro and Potosí, the requirement is not met gender parity, and the absence of indigenous representatives is also noted.
