The re-elected President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, announced this Monday that he has requested the immediate reactivation of a Council of State to analyze the sabotage that the Venezuelan electoral process has experienced.
For the president, it is necessary to “evaluate the events of the last month, related to the electoral system as a whole, and draw conclusions about the sabotage that the Venezuelan electoral process has experienced and, in particular, the electoral system.”
The objective – he explained – is that the Council of State can gather all the technical, professional and scientific expertise, and be able, in the short term, to explain to the country what we are facing, what we have defeated and generate institutional and technological changes to protect our country from future attacks on the electoral system, in all its parts.”
This was indicated after being proclaimed President of the Republic re-elected for the period 2025-2031by the authorities of the National Electoral Council.
In this regard, Maduro indicated that on Sunday “there was a massive attack, like never before in history, on the CNE transmission system. The attack continues, hundreds of attacks on the Electoral Power’s website. They prevented the transmission of data to cause what could be called an electoral blackout. And the international community, those who meddle in Venezuela’s internal affairs, do not give their opinion, they remain silent,” he said.
He reported that right-wing forces attacked polling stations and burned voting records and electoral material.
“They were trying to cut off the country’s electricity at night. There are people arrested in all these cases,” the president said.
He condemned to countries that want to make the election result look like fraud and the mechanisms that the right uses to create a virtual reality on social networks.
On this subject, he referred to the tycoon Elon Musk, who has publicly sided with the Venezuelan opposition right.
“It’s a good thing you showed your face, because we knew you were behind it with your money and your satellites,” Maduro said, commenting that Musk made a post on X referring to people taking away some ballot boxes, and it turns out it was a video of people taking away some air conditioners.”
He also said that it was no coincidence that at the Andrés Bello high school, “about a hundred violent, very violent opponents were pushing the soldiers and verbally attacking them,” and that the situation was broadcast live by Bloomberg.
“Bloomberg never broadcasts a live event anywhere in the world, never,” the president said.
Debate on social media
The president considered it appropriate for the National Assembly to hold a debate on the issue of social networks and the damage they cause to society.
He also asked all opinion makers to carry out a major campaign to denounce fascist mechanisms against Venezuela.
Electrical sabotage
Maduro claimed that they tried to sabotage the electrical system every day of the campaign and pre-campaign. “Every day,” and on Sunday, July 28, he said, “I had intelligence information that they wanted to cause a blackout at night and, indeed, we caught some saboteurs.”
Selection of communal projects
President Maduro announced that he will send a request to the CNE for the communal councils and communes to hold elections on August 25 to select their projects. “We are going to hold four annual consultations, one per quarter,” he said.
“We have the way to go to a better Venezuela, a more beautiful Venezuela, of course we have everything to do it, and in Venezuela love, reunion, spirituality, peace must triumph inexorably,” added the head of State, who will call all sectors to a great dialogue for peace and for the future of the country.
