Electoral Integrity Observation Network calls for “transparent and public counting” in Venezuela

Red de Observación de Integridad Electoral pide “conteo transparente y público” en Venezuela

AREQUIPA, Peru – The electoral observation organizations in Latin America, gathered in the Electoral Integrity Observation Network – OIE Network, asked the National Electoral Council (CNE) of Venezuela for a transparent and public counting of the votes and electoral records of the presidential elections. performed The last Sunday.

“The election results must be fully credible and subject to verification by all political organizations, independent national and international electoral observers, and civil society in general,” the network said in its statement. official website.

The OEI demanded that the National Electoral Council of Venezuela make public all the electoral records. According to it, this information must be in images and can be consulted in a flat file by polling station and by voting station duly identified.

However, noting that in the event that the minutes are not published or are published by the electoral authority without proper traceability, the OIE Network offered to carry out a statistical, technical and independent analysis of the results of the minutes that have been compiled on election day by civil society organisations and political parties.

“The members of the OIE Network reiterate the urgent need for the publication of all the minutes, their verification and auditing. Without compliance with the above requirements, it is not feasible to recognise the election results in Venezuela,” the statement emphasizes.

The OIE Network statement comes just hours after the Venezuelan CNE, controlled by the Chavista regime, accredited the presidential election to dictator Nicolás Maduro, a fact that has been described by democratic countries in the region as fraud.

“I cannot allow my silence to become complicity,” said José Raúl Mulino, president of Panama, who announced the suspension of diplomatic relations with Venezuela “until a complete review of the minutes and the computer system of the vote count is carried out that allows us to know the genuine popular will”.

The Panamanian Foreign Ministry also issued a statement in which the governments of Argentina, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay expressed their “deep concern” about the development of the Venezuelan elections and demanded “a complete review of the results.”

After the closing of the voting tables in Venezuela, after midnight on Monday, the president of the CNE, the Chavista militant Elvis Amorosoone of the founders of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), said that with 80% of the tables counted, Maduro had obtained 51.2% of the votes compared to 44.2% for Edmundo González.
