“The biggest robbery of the century”: Venezuelan artists react to electoral fraud

AREQUIPA, Peru – Venezuela’s National Electoral Council (CNE), controlled by the Chavista regime, accredited the presidential election to dictator Nicolás Maduro early Monday morning. The event has sparked a wave of discontent and allegations of electoral fraud, issued by, among other personalities, artists and influencers from Venezuela.

David Comedia, a comedian in exile, described the electoral process as “the biggest robbery of the century” and expressed his dissatisfaction on Instagram.

“Even they don’t believe this story. They robbed us. The streets spoke and the whole world witnessed it,” he wrote on the social network.

Another popular comedian, George Harris, posted an image on the same platform that read “Fraud” and encouraged his followers to speak out against the dictatorship. “It ain’t over until it’s over,” he added.

Dayana Mendoza, Miss Universe 2008 and also a businesswoman, used Bible verses to react to what happened on July 28 and 29 in Venezuela.

“’Those who heard this said, ‘Who then can be saved?’ ‘What is impossible for men is possible for God,’ Jesus replied. Luke 18:26-27. ‘…and Jesus, the mediator of the new covenant, and the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel. Hebrews 12:24,’ the model cited.

Another renowned Miss Universe, Alicia Machado, qualified the CNE announcement as a mockery of the hope of an entire people.

“Suffering is partly the result of a lot of unfulfilled expectations. Politics has neither hope nor mass solidarity. It is a matter of cold, uncompromising practicality. God bless my country Venezuela.”

For his part, the youtuber and influencer known as La Divaza condemned the tricks of the government in a video where he blamed the “damned Chavista government” and expressed anger over the fraud.

“How can they steal everything so shamelessly? Are you going to tell me that Maduro had 51% of the votes? Where did that come from? After everyone voted, after it was clearly a beating,” the young Venezuelan exclaimed.

In addition, the writer Leonardo Padrón published a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) after the CNE results were announced.

“The country wakes up devastated. Millions of votes were stolen from under our noses. The world is speechless. Maduro and his henchmen went to sleep with the smile of hyenas. Let’s be clear: we always found it hard to imagine that they would have the decency to admit defeat, but let’s not forget MCM’s key words: this is until the end,” the poet and screenwriter stressed.
