The student from Huancavelica, Elías Buendía Taype, is one of the three people arrested during the protest that citizens held in Lima during Dina Boluarte’s message to the nation. Buendía Taipe and Luis Noriega Ríos were taken to the Cotabambas police station. Roberto Santiago Arcedioses, the third detainee, was taken to the Alfonso Ugarte police station.
Both Buendía Taipe and Noriega Ríos were stopped on Azángaro Avenue and Colmena.
The Federation of Students of the National University of Huancavelica has called for his urgent release.
“We repudiate and denounce the persecution of those who simply protest against injustice. We demand the immediate release of our detained brothers.”they said in a statement issued on social media.
Attorney Janeth Marín alleged that there were certain violations of her rights and discrimination against her as her defense attorney. “I am not allowed to tell them their rights, that they have the right to remain silent, they have not been told that they have the right to remain silent or to not sign any document that they feel could incriminate them in any way,” he pointed.
Later, Congressmen Roberto Sánchez, Víctor Cutipa and Wilson Quispe went to the police station to verify that the rights of the detained citizens were not violated. Congresswoman Ruth Luque also attended.
