Santo Domingo.- So far this year, dengue cases have remained low, but this season is a good time for the disease to resurge.
This was indicated by the epidemiologist and researcher, Eddy Pérez Then, who considered that we must be prepared to face the disease.
By mid-July, the Epidemiology Department had reported some 8,602 cases of dengue, keeping the endemic curve in a safe zone.
He said that the preventive measures being taken by the Ministry of Health with the removal of junk and fumigation have had a positive impact, since much higher figures were expected for this date, following the World Health Organization (WHO) forecast that infections would be higher than last summer.

The doctor said that one of the problems caused by global warming is that it makes it easier for diseases transmitted by arboviruses, such as dengue and malaria, to develop.
