Check how they are doing the results of the elections in Venezuela on July 28, according to the National Electoral Council (CNE). This Sunday, Nicolás Maduro and Edmundo González will decide at the polls the next president of the country. The contest is full of expectations in the case of both candidates, but only one will be able to emerge victorious in the official count.

We tell you how the vote count for the Venezuelan elections is going through the CNE platform.

Venezuelans await confirmation of voting closure

At six o’clock on Sunday afternoon, the 15,000 voting tables that were made available to Venezuelans by the National Electoral Council (CNE) for the presidential elections, in which ten candidates are competing, began to close.

Although, two hours after the closing, the CNE authorities have not made any announcement to confirm the closure of the polling stations, EFE confirmed that several centers have already closed their doors. This, after a twelve-hour day of voting in which there was a high turnout.

Venezuelan electoral regulations also state that polling stations must remain open as long as there are voters waiting to cast their ballot. This is an unlikely scenario at many points in Caracas, which, as EFE was able to confirm in the afternoon, were already clear of queues after a high turnout in the morning.

However, according to the latest report from the campaign command of the opposition candidate, Edmundo González, two hours before the closing of the polling stations, a participation of 54.8% had been registered. Data obtained from a census of almost 21.4 million voters.
