Delinquency ratio of the Reactiva Peru program is 1.3%, indicates the MEF

The program created during the start of the coronavirus pandemic in order to provide liquidity to companies due to the closure of economic activities, to date has a delinquency ratio of 1.3% according to the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF).

According to Óscar Graham, head of the MEF, the program provided loans to more than 450,000 micro and small businesses (mypes). Likewise, guarantees were granted for S/ 52,000 million.

The minister specified that currently the companies are in the process of returning credits that have a guarantee from the State.

From what we have to date, the delinquency ratio of the program is 1.3% of the program and that delinquency ratio is ostensibly lower than the delinquency observed in loans to mypes, which is around 7.7%.”, Graham said at a press conference of the Council of Ministers.

The Minister of Economy explained that if there is a breach of the guaranteed company, after 90 days, the financial entity requests the honoring of that guarantee to pay the credit with the Central Reserve Bank (BCR). However, this does not mean that the debt “is extinguished”.

The debt is not extinguished, the debt continues to be collected. The State faces this honor after 90 days but then it is the obligation of the financial entity and the State to continue with the collection of these breaches”, he pointed.
