Army will bring 2,500 breakfasts with “bicentennial bread” to residents of Junín province

As part of the Bicentennial activities, this Friday, August 2, a total of 400 soldiers from the 31st Infantry Brigade of the Peruvian Army will bring 2,500 servings of hot chocolate with bread with high nutritional value to vulnerable residents in the province of Junín who visit the Pampas de Chacamarca.

“The intention is to assist the province of Junín, we will bring the Bicentennial Bread that will be made by the soldiers themselves with ingredients from the area to support the campaign against malnutrition”said General Carlos Vasquez.

“Thirty percent of the population is at risk of anemia, and ferrous sulphate is a component that prevents and combats anemia,” said Diego Matos, director of the Zárate Clinic.

The activity is part of the “Army committed to education” campaign, which also includes other activities such as providing maintenance and decorating educational institutions in the province.

Based on coordination with the Ugel of the province of Junín, a total of 6 educational institutions were enabled for the 400 soldiers to work to benefit around 2,000 students from Junín. “Maintenance, cleaning and painting of the schools will be carried out so that when the students return, they will see their schools completely renovated,” said General Vásquez, who also mentioned that the campaign has been carried out since February.
