Former Bolivian President Tuto Quiroga gave his support to Venezuelan residents who have set up a vigil at the Government headquarters, where he demanded that the electoral body of Venezuela ensure that the results of the presidential elections taking place this Sunday are respected.
“I trust in the vote, what must be guaranteed is that the electoral body YoReport the result of the popular will expressed at the polls, do not manipulate it. For that, it is necessary to guarantee that the vote is clean, that the tables are closed. Look at 7:00 p.m. and, if you hear that the electoral court says to continue voting until midnight, it means that the colectivos are going to appear to try to change the popular will. I experienced that in 2015,” said Quiroga.
The former president also referred to what happened last Friday when delegation of the IDEA group, of which he is a part, was prevented from traveling to Venezuela on a Copa Airlines flight.
Quiroga and other politicians from the IDEA group sought to observe the elections of This Sunday, invited by opposition member María Corina Machadeither.
“Only during a dictatorship do they deport visitors. In Cuba, I was deported in 2018. I had entered Venezuela eight times in recent years. With Maduro in 2015, I not only entered, but he received us. Do you remember Maduro? What did you tell us? That you were going to respect the rights of the people and you were going to respect the results.we ask the same now,” he said.
He denounced that the Maduro Government has deported these days dozens of Spanish parliamentarians, EcuadoriansMexicans and other political leaders.
