The construction of a rigid concrete road (reinforced), from Cruce Cascas to Sayapullo (Gran Chimú), in an extension of 62.5 kilometers, is being managed by the district mayor of Sayapullo, Jeiner Julca Villena, before the Regional Government of La Libertad.

The project, which will require an investment of more than S/ 120 million, “will prevent more people from dying in the attempt to receive timely health care in the reference health facilities, due to the precarious conditions of the road,” explained the municipal authority.
Julca added that the works will also make it easier for farmers to transport their products to the markets in better conditions, as well as to provide a decent journey for users of public transport services.

The mayor of Sayapulla added that, unfortunately, there are unpleasant experiences with the use of micropaving, double layer, asphalt mortar or slurry used on this road, because it does not guarantee durability. “So far, more than 20 million have been invested [de soles] in this type of works and the road is in a very poor state of conservation,” he stressed.
He added that during three meetings with the regional president of La Libertad, César Acuña Peralta, and his technical team, he has suggested the execution of a definitive project that guarantees durability.

“We cannot be asking for the same thing every year. If a one-centimeter thick double-layer pavement is built, the following year we will be knocking on the Region’s doors again to have the same work done again,” he asserted.
According to Jeiner Julca, in a recent meeting with the regional manager of Infrastructure, Jorge Luis Bringas Maldonado, he informed them that they had already requested the service for the preparation of the technical profile of the road with a view to executing a definitive project; that is, the construction of the road in reinforced concrete.
“I am convinced that in life you have to make sacrifices to achieve great things and only in this way can we provide peace of mind and security to our population of Sayapullo who demand a road that guarantees durability,” said the district mayor.
