The authorities HE seized This weekend of a cargo of 1,030 packagespresumably cocaine (more than a ton), in a surveillance operation carried out in Bayahibe, La Altagracia province, and in which two Colombians were arrested.
According to Address National Drug Control (DNCD), the institution carried out the operation, together with other agencies, by air, sea and land, for more than 15 hours. During this operation, a speedboat (type go fast) along the coasts of the aforementioned eastern province.
The boat30 feet long, with two men on board and 40 bags, containing inside the cargowas finally intercepted Several nautical miles south of the municipality of Bayahibe,and its occupants detaineesof Colombian nationality.
In the operation, two were also seized GPSa satellite radio, several gallons of fuel, two 200-horsepower outboard motors, a cooler with water, food, and other evidence.
The detainees were handed over to the Ministry Public of the Jurisdiction of Permanent Attention of the province of La Altagracia, to inform them of coercive measures in the next few hours.
Participating entities
Together with DNCD were members of the Forces Armed forces (Navy, Air Force and Army), the Attorney General’s Office and state intelligence agencies, during the persecution work.
“These are networks of drug trafficking whose operating mode is to try to introduce important shipments of drugs in speedboats from South America,” says the DNCD in a press release.
The 1,030 packages of the substanceconfiscated in this new operation, were sent under chain of custody to the Institute National of Forensic Sciences (Inacif), which will determine the type and exact weight of the cargo.
