According to the Mexico City Government Secretariat, following negotiations with the occupants of camps and street vendors under the bridges and on the esplanade of the Insurgentes roundabout, personnel from different departments moved to the site to carry out clean-up work.
At the same time, personnel from the Secretariat of Citizen Security positioned themselves in the recovered spaces to protect the area and prevent it from being occupied again.
In an interview, the Secretary of Government, Ricardo Ruizmentioned that the recovery of the Glorieta de Insurgentes is part of the work that will be carried out in the coming weeks to rehabilitate and improve public spaces.
The head of government, Martí Batres, took advantage of the operation to boast about the event on his social networks.
During the operation, three people were arrested for possession of illegal substances and suspicious objects.
In addition, the Ministry of Social Welfare and Equality offered shelter to six people in vulnerable situations, who decided to leave on their own.
The Department of Public Works and Services carried out an exhaustive cleaning of the Glorieta, removing more than 50 tons of solid waste from the area.
