SDE Mayor's Office plants about a thousand native plants on Ecological Avenue

Santo Domingo.- This Saturday, the Santo Domingo Este Mayor’s Office began a reforestation plan on the Ecological Avenue. Mayor Dio Astacio reported this Saturday that with the purpose of rescuing the greenery of this green space, three native plants were planted. The mayor specified that the ecological avenue has been mistreated by citizens who have depredated it, throwing all kinds of waste and cutting down its trees, in addition to carrying out informal constructions.

Mayor Dio Astacio stated that one of the objectives of his administration is to rescue the green areas of the SDE municipality, and the ecological avenue is one of them, due to the mistreatment it has suffered.

Some 3,000 trees of different species were planted in the area, in this reforestation plan that began this Saturday with dozens of volunteers, and with which they aim to rescue these green areas.

Regarding the management of solid waste, which is one of the complaints of the town, Astacio indicated that some 125 containers were placed in different places and citizens are being educated not to throw garbage in the streets.

He also said that another problem affecting the municipality is the amount of scrap metal on the avenues, and for this reason they will also start a zero scrap metal plan.
