Santo Domingo.- In the Dominican Republic 350 thousand people are infected with hepatitis, of which 150,000 have C and 200,000 have B, reported the Dominican Association of Health Risk Managers (ADARS), after stating that the number of these patients is alarming.

Adars expressed deep concern about the prevalence and consequences of this disease, as its effects can be devastating, and urged the need for awareness and action, on the occasion of World Hepatitis Day, which is celebrated worldwide every year.

He said that this disease remains a major public health problem, with serious implications for the population.

She explained that they are combining advocacy and education efforts to address the challenges posed by hepatitis and other health risks.

He said viral hepatitis is usually transmitted through food, contaminated water, poor hygiene, blood and sexual contact, and symptoms usually appear in the second and third weeks after contracting the disease.

This is why a timely diagnosis and treatment appropriate to each person’s health situation can help reduce the number of deaths caused by it.

He added that various institutions such as ARS PRIMERA, MAPFRE Salud, Universal, Futuro, Monumental, Abel González and Yunén, ADARS raise awareness about the importance of understanding the impact of the infection on society.
