En 17 provincias disminuyen casos de homicidios, dice la Policía

The National Police reported this Saturday that a total of 17 provinces and two municipalities have managed to keep the homicide rate per thousand inhabitants in a single digit.

This remarkable improvement in public safety is evident in the fifty-third weekly report on crime statistics issued by the National Police. According to this report, the provinces and municipalities with figures below 10.0 are: Valverde, Dajabón, María Trinidad Sánchez, Hato Mayor, Independencia, Santo Domingo Norte, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, Azua, San Juan, San José de Ocoa, Santo Domingo Este, Duarte, Hermanas Mirabal, Monte Plata, Puerto Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, Espaillat and Monseñor Nouel.

In this context, the cumulative homicide rate so far this year, per 100,000 inhabitants, stands at 9.95, while the corresponding rate for the month of July has dropped to 9.27. It is relevant to mention that this is the fifth consecutive time that the rate has remained in a single digit, a significant achievement in the fight against crime.

Compared to July 2023, a significant reduction of 1.45 points can be observed, which is equivalent to a percentage decrease of 13.5%. This decrease reflects the positive results of security strategies and the commitment of authorities to guarantee the protection and well-being of citizens.
