Congresswoman Susel Paredes said she will not attend Congress on July 28 to listen to the message to the Nation that the president Dina Boluarte will be held for Fiestas Patrias. The congresswoman from the new Frente Democrático party said that she will not attend to hear pure lies from the head of the Executive.
“I’m not going to come here on July 28 to listen to lies, I don’t expect anything from the presidential message. I’m not going to come here as a sign of protest, I won’t listen to a person who is under investigation, Dina Boluarte has 49 dead, when she answers for them, I’ll be able to hear some words from her,” he told the media.
These statements by the congresswoman were made prior to the election of Eduardo Salhuana as president of the Board of Directors of Congress. The parliamentarian of Alianza Para el Progreso will be in office for the entire annual session period 2024-2025. For his part, Paredes had announced that he would not vote for Salhuana.
“Alliance for Progress co-governs with Dina Boluarte. He has ministers, ambassadors and influence in the State. Why was he chosen? I will not vote for List 1,” he said.

Susel Paredes on Congress: “They have no shame anymore, we are living in a dictatorship”
At the beginning of July, Susel Paredes spoke out regarding the actions recent of the Congress of the Republic with the approved anti-democratic bills. The legislator questioned the decisions of her colleagues and said that currently the country “lives in a dictatorship.”
In an interview with the news portal Epicentro TV, the congresswoman referred to the ruling on bills No. 3258, 5206 and others, which propose modifications to the Film Law and would harm regional film productions. This decision has been criticized by various associations and social groups.
Paredes urged citizens to take to the streets to demand an end to these actions, arguing that Parliament will not stop making decisions that could cause further damage to state institutions. He stressed that the attempt to censor art “has been the straw that broke the camel’s back.”
“Do you realize where we are? What we are experiencing, we are no longer in transition to a dictatorship, we are living a dictatorship. We have to go out into the streets because no one is going to stop them. They no longer have shame, they no longer have modesty. Censoring art is the last straw that breaks the camel’s back,” she told Epicentro TV.
