The regional director of the Ministry of Health in Veraguas, Xavier Torres, said on Radio Panama that from four in the morning on Thursday, August 1, they will carry out inspections of food distributors and verify food handlers in employers’ associations in Santiago.
Restaurants, supermarkets and food handlers will be checked to ensure that their license is up to date, as well as the correct clothing for handling food.
Regarding dengue, Torres explained that to date there are 155 cases in Veraguas, with the most affected districts being Santiago, Soná, Cañazas, Calobre and Atalaya.
He indicated that this Wednesday fogging operations and inspection of breeding sites will be carried out in different parts of Santiago. He recommended eliminating breeding sites to prevent the spread of the mosquito that causes dengue.
