The Mayer Mizrachi administration in the Panama City Hall is focused on organizing all municipal finances, both in the institution and in the communal councils.
Currently, work is underway to meet all the commitments and payments that the Mayor’s Office must make. “Without the necessary funds, both the community councils and the Mayor’s Office do not have the money they had before,” said Mayor Mizrachi in a video posted on his Instagram account.
“The situation we are facing is not easy; we have the difficult task of putting our house in order,” the mayor explained in the video. He also assured that this process will result in a stronger mayor’s office and local governments. “We must make sacrifices to recalibrate our operations; let’s be patient, putting our house in order is our top priority,” he emphasized.
Mizrachi also stressed that the actions of his recent administration have been carried out with the support of the central government and private companies, stressing that the main objective is to stabilize the finances of the Mayor’s Office.
“The municipality has 6 million dollars in the bank and 140 million in debt.” Cutting expenses, optimizing income and putting the house in order are, without a doubt, the greatest challenges and obligations of this administration. This will require sacrifices from everyone, but in the long term we will have a healthy, autonomous and efficient municipality.
Since the beginning of his administration, Mayor Mizrachi has implemented an austerity plan that reduces municipal government expenses, including vehicle rentals, staff hiring, telephone equipment payments and other items.
