DOT-NYC has more than 250 vacancies

NEW YORK.- The Department of Transportation of this city (NYC-DOT), headed by Dominican Ydanis Rodríguez, currently has 270 job positions, some with salaries of more than 100 thousand dollars annually.

Most are described as “experience” positions, but there are some available for beginners and students.

More than one-third of jobs fall into the engineering, architecture and planning categories. Other job categories include administration, construction operations, finance and accounting, legal affairs, technology and communications.

Job listings provide job descriptions, minimum qualifications, and any other requirements they may have.

Positions are posted at JobsNYC = https://cityjobs.nyc.gov/jobs?options=239&page=1&size=48 The DOT is located at 55 Water Street (10041) in lower Manhattan.
The municipal entity has more than 5,500 employees who oversee one of the most complex urban transport networks in the world.

It manages an annual operating budget of $1.4 billion and a ten-year capital program of $33 billion.

Commissioner Rodriguez is responsible for 6,300 miles of streets and highways, more than 12,000 miles of sidewalks, and approximately 800 bridges and tunnels.

The staff also installs and maintains nearly one million traffic signals; 13,250 signalized intersections; more than 315,000 streetlights and 350 million linear feet of markings; promotes the use of sustainable modes of transportation; designs bicycle facilities, bus lanes and public plazas.

It operates the Staten Island Ferry, which served more than 15 million people last year, and oversees ferry operations at city-owned piers and educates students and adults about street safety.

It also issues parking permits for people with disabilities, non-profit agencies, government entities, commercial vehicle permits for trucks, and construction permits for street work.

DOT’s mission is to ensure the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods in NYC and to maintain and improve transportation infrastructure critical to economic vitality and quality.
