The President of the Republic participated this Tuesday in a work day with the grandfathers and grandmothers of the country, within the framework of the More Years, More Love plan, at the Simón Bolívar Convention Center, in La Carlota.
“Good afternoon, my beloved compatriots, we are among grandfathers and grandmothers, we are among equals, what a joy to come to meet you at this wonderful meeting to reaffirm the original strength of our country,” said the Head of State, accompanied by the first combatant, Cilia Flores; Vice President Delcy Rodríguez; and the Minister of People’s Power for the Grandfathers and Grandmothers of the Country, Rafael Argotti.
Maduro, who was welcomed with traditional dances by the grandmothers of the country, said “what a wonderful welcome with these dance groups. Dancing is living with our culture, with our rhythms.”
“It is wonderful what we have achieved in such a short time, with this beautiful and blessed idea of creating a Great Mission for the grandfathers and grandmothers of the country,” said the president.
The Head of State danced salsa with the first female combatant and greatly enjoyed the event’s lively music.
The activity was attended by the spokesperson for the grandmothers of the country, Gloria España, who thanked the president for the welfare policies for the sector; and the spokesperson for the grandparents, Carmelo González, who highlighted that the organization of the Grandparents’ Circles is what guarantees that the benefits reach them.
For his part, the Minister for Grandparents, Rafael Argotti, stated that there are 40 thousand grandparents’ circles registered throughout the country.
Goal: 100 thousand grandparents’ circles
In this regard, Maduro said that it is necessary to reach the goal of 100,000 grandparents’ circles, “so that every grandparent has their circle to meet, for food, for health checks, to receive their medicines and their comprehensive protection.”
He also indicated that the work with grandparents is done on the street. “A day here and there. The four vertices bringing health, culture, sport, social protection, active beautification, taking the days everywhere,” added the president.
