During the second meeting for a World Social Alternative, the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Relations, Yván Gil, warned that imperialism seeks to use strategies that in the past were functional for them, such as fascism and violence, against the popular classes in order to affect free and independent countries.
“The challenges and threats we face in the future have become clear in what we have seen here, faced by popular forces for centuries. The first of these is colonialism, in its various forms, and now neocolonialism, which is not only the cause of deterioration and inequities in life, but today it presents itself as a new, even more powerful threat with a hunger for plunder,” said Gil.
He also recalled the theory presented at the first edition of this meeting, which indicates that capitalism is in a period of decline, severely affected and in crisis.
“These threats have motivated the mobilization of the Bolivarian Revolution, the fight against imperialism and neocolonialism. These values and objectives unite us in the world and give meaning to all the working classes of the world, and we must continue to consolidate them.”
“From Venezuela, Commander Chavez made a proposal to build 21st Century Socialism as an alternative to confront these two great threats that we face and that are the origin of all the evils we suffer within the industrialized nations,” he concluded.
