Police lawyers arrested for robbery while returning Bs 10,000 to a merchant

The personnel of the Specialized Department for the Fight against Corruption (Delcc) Two lawyers were arrested when they tried to return Bs 10,000, which were allegedly stolen by five police officers from a merchant who was traveling to Cochabamba.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred on Monday, July 15, when The merchant was traveling on a public transport bus,from the capital of Santa Cruz to Cochabamba, but was extorted by police at a checkpoint at kilometer 17 north of Santa Cruz.

The victim was traveling in possession of Bs 43,000 to pay their workers, and five members of the Highway Police, allegedly, They took Bs 15,000 from him to set him free.

The merchant, upset because he lost his trip and part of his money was stolen, filed his complaint with the Delcc and then went to the Highway Police office to demand that his Bs 15,000 be returned, but They only gave him back Bs 5,000.

Days later he suffered a traffic accident and was admitted to a clinic on the first ring road and Melchor Pinto Avenue, where Two lawyers with the initials CAST and NVV arrived to return the missing Bs 10,000.

The jurists They made him sign a withdrawal memorandum of the complaint in order to return the money stolen from him by the five police officers under investigation. At that moment, the Delcc agents arrived and arrested the two lawyers.

In addition, it is expected that in the next few hours, the police are summoned to testify who were reported for the alleged crime of bribery.
