President Bolsonaro participates in signing agreements with Hungary

President Jair Bolsonaro landed today (17) in Budapest, capital of Hungary, for a brief official visit. He arrived around 9:20 am (5:20 am Brasília time). After landing at the airport, the president and his entourage headed to the Sándor Palace for the first official ceremony of the day.President Bolsonaro participates in signing agreements with Hungary

Bolsonaro was received by the country’s president, János Áder, with military honors, and then the two met. Bolsonaro was also received by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

At 1:30 pm (9:30 am Brasília time), Bolsonaro and Orbán participated in an International Acts Exchange ceremony and press release.

Brazilian Defense Minister Walter Braga Netto and his Hungarian counterpart Tibor Benko signed a memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation. Afterwards, Carlos Alberto França, Brazilian Chancellor, and Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, signed two memoranda. One for the promotion of humanitarian actions and the other for the management of water resources and water sanitation.

After the signatures, Bolsonaro and Orbán made a joint statement to the press. The president of Brazil said that he considers Hungary a big little brother. “Small if we take into account our differences in the respective territorial extensions and big for the values ​​we represent, which can be summed up in four words: God, homeland, family and freedom”.

Bolsonaro also said that the meeting was useful due to the signing of some agreements and protocols of intentions.

Afterwards, the Brazilian president will have lunch with Orbán and go on to a meeting with the president of the Hungarian National Assembly, László Köver.

Jair Bolsonaro will return to Brazil after his commitments in Budapest. As soon as he arrives in Rio de Janeiro, he will fly over the region of Petrópolis, hit by heavy rains.
